A full apartment renovation with warm and earthy tones | CPH interior design

Project type

Interior design concept & project management

Location

Copenhagen

For this full apartment renovation in Copenhagen, our vision was to create an interior that feels both grounded and inviting, blending a warm, earthy colour palette with organic shapes and soft lines.

The kitchen area had an irregular shape and it presented us with the challenge of drawing lines. We’ve embraced the asymmetry of the architecture and created a logical sense through the design of the kitchen island. With its organic shape, the island is the focal point of the room, acting as a bridge between the 2 non-parallel walls. On one side parallel to the kitchen and on the other side parallel to the dining area, the island is the hub around which everything revolves.

The living area features large, floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light, offering a panoramic views of the new Sydhavn harbour. To balance this abundance of light, we opted for a deep, muted colour palette, creating a cozy atmosphere that embraces you as you step inside.

The colour palette throughout the apartment centres on earthy tones - muted terracotta, warm greys, beige and browns - which all work harmoniously to create a serene atmosphere.

Smoke oak has been used in the kitchen and the bathroom, to add depth and texture with its natural grain. Elegant terrazzo tiles in the bathroom add a touch a modernity while still maintaining a natural, organic feel.

Throughout the entire renovation, our focus was on using natural materials and a muted colour scheme to create a sense of tranquillity and connection to the nature. The result is a harmonious blend of textures, tones, and shapes, that together create a warm, inviting home that feels both modern and timeless.
